Gao!

I have a lot more toys up in my attic. However, I am currently bored, and I think some of you may want to see more of my collection, so I decided to make a trip up to the Arctic (the attic is cold in the winter) to do an unboxing of my rarely opened toys. This guy has seen the light of day only once before, back in 2009 or something. You can imagine how loudly he trumpeted in joy when I was like "hey, want to be part of a photo shoot?" XD

Now, feast your eyes upon the one, the only, the rare and never before captured by an iPhone in the wild (LOL)--Gao Elephant, which was found lurking, surprisingly, not at a Toys R Us but a grocery store in Hangzhou for a measly 21 dollars (138 RMB/yuan). This is the only Power Animal from the Bandai China version of the line that uses the Japanese mold, because the US never gave us a deluxe sized pachyderm to fool around with (the other Power Animals use the American molds it seems). The only differences between it and the original Bandai Japan release is the lack of chrome on the toes, no matter what the box may be trying to tell you.

False advertising much, guys? Oh well, you at least show us what the original mold looks like, chrome and all. The red writing says "Let's do an Hundred Beast Armament with Gao King!" (Basically, let's combine)

The box itself is nearly identical to the Japanese release, only this time the Japanese characters have been translated into Chinese. It retains the Gaoranger Power Animal logo. The only really new addition is the Ling Dong logo. Ling Dong is the company that brings Bandai Japan merchandise to China excluding Hong Kong. Any Sentai merchandise released in Hong Kong is distributed not by Ling Dong but by Bandai Asia, which primarily uses Japanese molds.

According to the box, Gao Elephant is 39 meters long, 25 meters tall, and weighs 2000 tons. Added to the Wild Force Megazord or Gao King, it makes the robot, which already weighs 5000 tons, 2000 tons heavier, for a total of 7000 tons. Once fused with Gao King, it becomes a sword (whip would be more accurate, as the trunk can bend if necessary to hit an enemy on the show) and shield. Standard warnings apply (do not give to kids under 3, it may be a choking hazard, don't put it near a heat source (don't burn the elephant!), yadda yadda yadda). Partly shown is the price tag slapped on by the grocery store I got it from.

Shows you that you can move the trunk and tusks. "The teeth move!" it says. Exciting toy promotion, right? XD

Gao Elephant's trunk is um...rigid, but slightly flexible...reminds me of an accordion. Fun to bend and pretend it's trying to swat you with it. XD The tusks can also be moved to give the impression it's about to gore you. Kids will enjoy going "RAWR" and trying to mow down their GI Joes or something with it, I'm sure.

And the Jungle Pride Megazord, in lieu of Geki Elephant, (which kind of looks dumb in my opinion with a huge ball attached to the end of its trunk), gets a much better looking weapon. While the head fits on very well on the left fist, the main body of Gao Elephant does not sit very well on the other fist. If anyone could donate a gently used Wild Force Megazord, I would die of happiness, as it's meant to fit onto Gao Tiger and Gao Shark better.

I don't have the resources to do it right now, but I will! Someday!

I would be too, to be on the safe side.

meh, in time, I guess...in the meantime, college calls :)

oh and to be honest, in the real world, I'm kind of boring and annoying, the last thing I want to do is have people that know me on the internet meet me in person and be all "This guy is DEFINITELY not anyone I wished to remember".
