I use VLC player. It allows you to take snapshots by going to the menu, clicking on video then clicking on the snapshot button under video. This automatically takes the screenshot (provided you have the video on pause to the screen cap you want) and saves the picture automatically to a folder of your choice. (Which can be specified in the preferences option in the menu)
